The upcoming edition of Polish Dance Platform was born out of the need to
present the achievements of the Polish dance community in Poland and
abroad. During the project's last edition, which took place in Poznan in
October 2008, we presented a program of fourteen shows selected in a vote
by the platform's Jury. The works presented stirred big interest among
international curators and guests and for the local dance community the
whole event turned out to be a perfect occasion to meet and exchange
artistic information and experiences.
Richer in experience after the last edition of Polish Dance Platform and
encouraged by its warm reception, we are happy to inform you that the
preparations for another edition of the festival, scheduled to take place
in Poznan between 7th - 10th October 2009, have begun last Fall and now
comes to final stage. Again, the organizers of Platform - ZAMEK Culture
Center and Art Stations Foundation (residing in Old Brewery) with support
of Polish Ministry of Culture and Adam Mickiewicz Insitute - wish s to
create in Poznan a space for the presentation of the best dance
performances produced in Poland within the last two years. This time the
qualification process will be divided into two stages - first a
pre-selection of the received materials and then a preview of the chosen
performances by the members of our expert Jury: Jadwiga Majewska
(independent dance critic), Tadeusz Kornaś ("Didaskalia"), Janusz Marek
(Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle). All the year our experts
will be traveling through the country and watching selected performances
live. The Jury of Polish Dance Platform will present its verdict on 15th
July 2010.
But let us remember that Polish Dance Platform is not only a presentation
of dance productions - it is also a place for exchanging information and
ideas about dance, its present state and its future especially important
now, when Dance institute is finally to be established in Warsaw!. As
Organizers, we would like the event to serve as a platform for the meeting
of various parts of the Polish dance community - not only artists
themselves, but also critics, managers, and last but not least - the
audience. Thus, next to the performances program, we will propose a series
of structured meetings devoted to the condition of contemporary dance -
discussion panels, workshops and meetings with international guests.
We hope to have pleasure to welcome you in Poznan between 7th and 10th
October 2010. Starting from now, we are waiting for your accreditation
applications, which please find enclosed.
We are looking forward to your applications and to meeting you in October
in Poznań!
