keðja KLAIPEDA (Lithuania) June 13-16, 2013 

We are happy to announce the application procedure for the artistic program of keðja Klaipeda encounter 2013. More about keðja: www.kedja.net 

keðjaKlaipėda will take place in the unique urban surroundings of Lithuanian major harbor city Klaipeda. Located in the Western region, Klaipėda is the third largest city of the country and has a complex and diverse history. Many different national and cultural influences met here over centuries and created a unique mixture of identities. 

Theme of the keðjaKlaipėda encounter: National Artistic Identity in Dance.
This call is for Nordic- Baltic dance companies or choreographers who have site specific productions. Performances will be presented during all three days of the encounter in the town and surroundings. 
Performances should be adjustable for the different industrial or natural spaces.  
Performance should be prepared and available for touring.

Technical criteria: min length of the work is 20 min, max 40 min. 

Applicants must fill in the application form and send a link to youtube or vimeo.

Selected productions will be announced no later than 1st of March, 2013.  
After the projects will be selected, final decisions regarding areas will be done together with a creative team of the performance. Detailed photos, DVDs and other specific material of the space will be provided for the groups.
There might be a possibility for the companies to arrive one week before the show and to adjust the performances to the provided space.

Why

The Contemporary Dance Association was established in 2007 by Lithuanian contemporary dancers and choreographers, who felt the need to organize themselves aiming to represent contemporary dance community and to defend their social and artistic interests.

The mission of the Association is to influence cultural policy in order to ensure and improve working conditions for dancers and choreographers and promote contemporry dance in Lithuania. As one of the main goals the Association seeks international collaboration with cultural institutions, dance organizations and artists.
